  Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela is a state-owned airline founded in 1929 and based in Medellin. It started as a branch of French airline Aeropostale and was purchased by the Venezuelan government in 1933. It became LAV (Línea Aeropostal Venezolana) that split into Viasa for international flights and Aeropostal for domestic routes in the early 1960s.
