Gulf Air is the flag carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain. It started as a private compagy in 1950, then became the flag carrier of Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Oman in 1973. The 3 other states started their own airlines and retired from Gulf Air later
